Enderby Rentals Outdoor Power Equipment and Parts

History of the Owners

Paul and Carla Halvorson have owned and operated Enderby Rentals Ltd (previously known as Interior Motors) since the Spring of 2010. Prior to moving to Enderby, they lived in Pemberton, BC. Paul was a 3rd generation high-lead logger and began working in the woods at 16. He worked for a year at Howe Sound Equipment which was a Stihl chainsaw shop and rental house in Squamish and enjoyed working on small engines, but felt a pull to go back to the woods and stayed in the logging industry for 30 years. It was there that he found an appreciation for Stihl products beginning with the 075's and 051's and onward to the 046's and 066's.

During that time he worked alongside family and friends and eventually began contract yarding, loading and road-building with his brother Don and friend Kevin, eventually running a stump to dump operation. They sold the logging operation in 2004 and Paul worked for another logging company for the next 5 years. Paul had a desire to own a small family run saw and rental shop going back to his days at Howe Sound Equipment as a young man and liked the way his bosses, father and son, Sid and Phil Roberge treated their employees and customers, and the laughter with old-timers visiting and telling stories on a Saturday, or Sid making a big batch of pancakes in the showroom on a Saturday morning. They appreciated their customers and would go to great lengths to accommodate them.

Paul saw that again when his own logging co was a customer of Phil and Sid's and was on the receiving end of their service.

In the Summer of 2009, while on vacation in Enderby, Carla encouraged Paul to walk into Interior Motors and ask Ray Kemp if he wanted to sell his business. Ray was ready and a few months later, and with much prayer, they sold their home in Pemberton and made the move to Enderby, adding tool rentals to the business and changing the name to Enderby Rentals Ltd. Ray and Cindy had owned the business since 1995 and had developed a good relationship with the people of the North Okanagan. Ray is a great mechanic and a good man and has continued working with Paul and Carla, training and teaching as they go.

After many years on the customer side of the counter, Paul and Carla enjoy the folks that come through their doors and do their very best to treat their customers the way they would want to be treated.
